Toby Stavisky has represented us since 1999. In that time, the cost of living in Queens has exploded, she co-sponsored a plan to put non-citizens on state health coverage, and her son built a lobbying business representing the sports-betting industry her committee oversees.
Since she took office in 1999, the basics have gotten dramatically more expensive. We can no longer afford Toby Stavisky in the State Senate.
Percent change from 1999 average to latest data: home prices through 2025; rent through first half of 2026; gas and food through September 2026.
Stavisky signed on as a co-sponsor of S.2237, which directed the state to open public health coverage to adults who are ineligible because of their immigration status.
As first written, if Washington refused to pay, the bill would have expanded Medicaid to those adults using state-only funding — New York taxpayers' money.
She voted for it on the Senate floor twice, in June 2023 and May 2024, and voted to advance it out of the Finance Committee in February 2024.
Healthcare is already one of the biggest costs Queens families face. Stavisky's priority was expanding coverage to non-citizens.
Mom writes gaming law. Son lobbies for the gaming industry. The gaming industry's super PAC backs Mom. Queens deserves a senator who works for us — not for the family business.
In February's special election for Assembly District 36, Stavisky lined up behind Diana Moreno, a former co-chair of the Democratic Socialists of America's Queens chapter.
Since taking office, Moreno has pushed the "Not On Our Dime!" Act targeting New York nonprofits that support Israeli settlements — and told constituents in her official newsletter that
"billions of our federal tax dollars have funded a genocide in Gaza."— Assemblymember Diana Moreno, Summer 2026 newsletter
In June 2026, streamer Hasan Piker headlined NYC-DSA's "A City to Win" rally in Bushwick for the DSA's endorsed slate, two days before early voting. Diana Moreno was there with the slate, and called Piker's backing a testament to what NYC-DSA has built.
"America deserved 9/11, dude."— Hasan Piker, 2019 livestream
Stavisky vouched for Moreno. Moreno ran alongside Piker. If Toby Stavisky endorses this movement, can we trust her to keep our community safe?
Vote Tuesday, November 3. Early voting runs October 24 – November 1.
